Down below, the layout is startlingly spacious and the headroom is more than six feet is some places. Portlights and hatches allow sunlight to penetrate the saloon. At the bottom of the companionway, a comfortable navigation station occupies a niche on the starboard side next to the head.
The Beneteau 31 can sleep a family of four. The aft cabin is located on the port side and the V-berth forward has a fill-in. Both have spring mattresses.
Settees on both sides of the saloon flank a floor plan that's ideal for entertaining. The dinette converts into a full-size dining table by lifting the hinged wing and sliding a couple of bolts into place.
At the bottom of the companionway the L-shaped galley is to port and the head to starboard.
