Suddenly is a classic BC-built yacht with wonderful interior volume, and updated systems and decor that blends high quality old school teak joinery, with contemporary living and cruising comforts.
The flared stem add to the handsome lines of the Canoe Cove 48 Tri-cabin are well proportioned and distinctive.
Board Suddenly’s cockpit via the transom door to the swim platform, or to the side decks to the salon door open the port side.
From the cockpit, climb the ladder to the upper decks and flying bridge. Also from the cockpit there is a companionway to the aft cabin. However, the most common entrance to the boat is through the side door from the port side deck to the salon and lower helm area.
The salon, lower helm, and galley are all together making a large open space with large windows, storage everywhere, clean new-looking headliners, and updated LED overhead lighting on dimmers.
The helm station is forward and to port, with a broad area for charts and books to starboard. The galley is just aft to port and is U-shaped with drop down cabinets slightly defining the space from the helm and salon.
Down three steps forward to the private guest cabin and guest head.
Aft and to starboard of the galley, down three steps through a hallway to the private aft cabin, also with private ensuite head and shower stall.
Master Cabin Aft
The master cabin is aft and takes up the full beam of the yacht. It has ample floor space, a walk-around queen berth, a vanity, and storage in numerous lockers and drawers.
Master Head Aft
The master head is ensuite to the master cabin and has an updated electric marine toilet, separate shower stall, basin, bright lighting, opening window, and storage cabinets under and above the basin.
Guest Cabin Forward
Forward of the salon is the guest cabin with twin bunks, a large hanging locker, shelves, and numerous other drawers and lockers all around. Overhead LED lighting, with soft and bright settings, and natural light and fresh air through the opening hatch above.
Guest Head Forward
Ensuite to the guest cabin is the guest head with electric marine toilet, shower, basin, and storage. Ventilation through opening portlight.
The salon is wide open and bright with windows all around, situated for all to take in the ocean vistas whether sitting or standing. A large plush occasional chair an a lounge chair are to starboard, with an occasional table between. The furniture is loose, and the space is ready to accept any furnishings of your choosing.
Stairs up from the salon give access to the flybridge from the interior, a welcome and surprisingly unusual feature.
The galley is integral to the salon making the whole space intimate yet nicely set up for entertaining.
Appliances are full size and there is as much counter and storage space as any on-board chef should desire. Note the unique and useful storage under the steps to the flybridge.
The lower helm is integral to and forward of the salon. The engine instruments and controls, navigation and communication equipment, AC and DC breaker panels, are all close at hand. There is a very large area for charts, books, and all other cruising and piloting needs.
Board the cockpit through the transom door from the swim platform. There are steps up port and starboard to the side decks, and a ladder to the sun deck and flybridge.
The sun deck is surrounded by stainless steel railing, and provides more room for lounging, and stowage of all manner of cruising toys like kayaks or paddle boards. There is a ladder up from the cockpit, or stairs up from the salon.
The flybridge is just forward and up a couple of more steps. There is a centreline helm station with upholstered helm bench.
Upper helm with
AC power is distributed through circuit breaker protected panel, and is provided by the 30 Amp shore connection, by the new diesel generator, and by an inverter off the house bank of batteries.
12VDC power is also distributed through a circuit breaker protected panels. There are two banks of batteries; the house bank for onboard systems, and a dedicated start bank for engine and genset starting; both with dedicated charging systems.
Service has been routine and thorough. The machinery space is accessed via three hatches in the cockpit. It is well lit, orderly, and is well laid out for easy access for service. Suddenly is powered by twin Detroit Diesel 6-71 engines producing 410 hp each. Service is up to date.
There is a tank room beneath the salon which houses the genset, house batteries, fuel and water tanks, hot water tank, and other electrical and mechanical systems. It is brightly lit, and very well organised. The stairs to the forward cabin hinge up revealing the entry to the tank room.
