The Nordlund Boatyard, owned and run by brothers Paul and Gary Nordlund, has been building custom yachts in Tacoma, W.A. for over 55 years. They specialize in building yachts that range in length from 80 - 120ft — whether it’s a family yacht, an expedition yacht or a fishing yacht.
A Nordlund is a unique, highly admired custom yacht that is remarkably fuel efficient. Cruising at 15 knots it can cover a range of 1200nm comfortably on extended passages.
Safari was built in 1996, her exterior was designed by Ed Monk the naval architect and her luxurious interior by Pokela Design. She accommodates six comfortably and has ample quarters for a crew of four. The salon, galley, pilothouse and fly bridge are all well appointed. Both engines and transmissions were rebuilt during a major re-fit in 2015/2016, with stainless steel fuel control valves as well as stainless steel beds for both Detroit Diesel engines. The air-conditioning and heating system has just been replaced with two new Dometic Titanium modular chillers and with eight sets of digital control panels. The aft cockpit is ideal for fishing. It is equipped with down rigger bases that have 12V outlets and rod holders, a Raymarine i70 Multi-screen and a live bait tank with a clear front panel. Not to forget a most convenient day head !
